CONSTRUCTION
Naiad is worked top down, starting with a cast on for the shoulder seams. The upper part of the front and back are worked flat with short rows to shape the shoulders. Once the upper front and back are finished, the front and back shoulders are joined by seaming. From the underarm down the front and back are joined to be worked in the round to the hem.
The stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the armhole, and short rows are worked to shape the sleeve caps. The sleeves are worked in the round, and shaped by carefully placed increases and decreases. The sleeves are finished with a folded hem to complement the sleeve shaping. The detailed neckline finishing includes a knitted on i-cord along the front split and a ribbed trim which is folded over and sewn to the inside of the sweater.
Naiad has a slight A-line shape; the narrowest part of the sweater falls a little above the natural waist.
The pattern includes instructions for horizontal bust darts. The darts are optional; instructions for a sweater with and without darts are given.
