Malin is worked seamlessly from the top down. First, the shoulder saddles are worked in garter stitch. Then, stitches are picked up from the saddles to work the back and front yoke until the underarms. The shoulder seam is shifted forward to optimize the fit, so the upper front yoke will be shorter than the upper back yoke.
Then, fronts and back are joined to work the body down to the garter ridges. The garter ridges and stranded colorwork are worked in the round, after picking up sts from the edges. Then, the body hem ribbing is worked flat, after which the button bands and collar are worked. For the sleeves, stitches are picked up around the armhole. The sleeve caps are shaped using German short rows, after which the sleeves are worked in the round.
