Leia

Excuse me while I kiss the sky   *

Sophisticated, elegant but far from boring Leia will take you from day to night feeling cool, collected and very well dressed.

This modern, unfussy take on the round yoke sweater emphasizes the wearers face and neck, and the flattering, neat shape of the sweater will complement most body types. Leia’s textured front and back panel add extra interest, without compromising the wearability or losing the effortless appeal.

CONSTRUCTION
Leia is a top down hybrid and is designed to have a relaxed fit with approx 12.5 cm – 5” of positive ease at bust. The upper yoke is knit flat, starting with a provisional cast on. The upper yoke has one row stripes, which will require you to work two RS rows, followed by two WS rows. This technique is not difficult to master and is carefully explained in the pattern. To shape the yoke, decreases are worked within the stripes and the neckline is shaped by binding off stitches. The lower yoke, body and sleeves are worked top down from the provisional cast on edge.

Sample is shown in size S and has approximately 15 cm / 6” of positive ease.

YARN
The design is suitable for a large range of sport weight yarns. If you prefer a more summery version of the sweater, I would recommend a wool/linen or a wool/silk blend. A 100% linen or silk is not recommended, due to the lack of elasticity of these yarns.
For a warmer version of the sweater, I recommend an alpaca (blend) yarn to achieve a drape similar to that of the sample.
Beware that yarns with silk or alpaca tend to grow after blocking, so block your swatch and measure your gauge carefully.
