Bailly

Somewhere just beyond the mist

The design for Bailly is all about the fit, the details and the clean, simple lines. Every technique used to create this sweater is focused on high-lighting those lines, without being overpowering or showy. The timeless and understated aesthetic of this piece will work with most body types and styles.

Bailly is all about you, the maker and the wearer, because the character of this sweater is defined by the yarn and color you choose and the way you wear it. Pick a slinky merino, a cozy alpaca or a crisp linen blend and wear yours with everything from off-duty denim to a polished skirt for many seasons to come.

CONSTRUCTION
Bailly is knit from the top down in one piece. Stitches for the upper body are picked up from the shoulder straps, that are worked first. This results in beautiful and flattering lines along the shoulders. The front and back of the upper body are worked flat down to the underarms, where the piece is joined to work in the round. The body features darted waist shaping that hits a little higher than the natural waistline. Sleeves are worked from the top down using short rows to shape the sleeve caps, extending from the shoulder saddles.

The pattern includes instructions for  horizontal bust darts. The darts are optional; instructions for a sweater with and without darts are given.
